Kayleigh + Cam dreamt of having their elopement on a black sand beach on the Big Island. These two absolutely love the ocean and can totally see themselves living on the Big Island someday. When they found our photos, they knew we were the ones they wanted to capture their elopement. We were absolutely stoked to capture their ceremony on the Big Island. They envisioned Waipio Valley for their big day, which is one of our favorite black sand beaches on the islands.
We had everything planned out to capture their ceremony in Waipio Valley. However, the week that they had planned for their wedding ceremony, there were reports of 100% rainfall in the valley. As an elopement photographer in Hawaii, you always have to have a back-up plan dependent on the weather. Part of our job is also to assure that everyone is going to be safe getting to and from our locations. The day before their ceremony, it looked like a torrential downpour ALL DAY. We knew it would be unsafe to even make it down into the valley. So, we quickly came up with a Plan B to still incorporate a beautiful sunrise shoot with a black sand beach for their ceremony location.
After our sunrise session with just Cam + Kay, we made our way to a black sand beach where there wasn’t an ounce of rain. We had a private ceremony with all of their best friends surrounding them, and it was everything they had hoped for. We would be so thrilled to have them move to the Big Island because we honestly consider these two as friends at this point. We feel so freaking blessed to have captured their big day, and we cannot wait to see these two absolutely thrive in their marriage together.
